Qantas opens new Heathrow lounge

Australian carrier Qantas opened its new lounge at London Heathrow Airport this week as the airline counts down towards the launch of its non-stop 787 Dreamliner flights between London and Australia.

As part of a multi-million dollar investment for customers on its existing London services, Qantas has spent the past 12 months building a dedicated lounge at Heathrow.

Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said investing in the lounge was key as the airline plans to directly air link Europe and Australia for the first time.

He said: “We have worked with leaders in design, food and service to create a lounge that is modern and comfortable and incorporates the aesthetics of the Qantas lounges that make our customers feel at home.”

Some of the key features of the lounge include seating for more than 230 customers, a marble cocktail bar, a gin bar on the lower level, menus designed by Rockpool, British and Australian dishes, hot and cold buffets, wifi, workstations, six showers and spa amenities.

The new lounge is located at Terminal 3 and will be open from 8am to 8:30pm to customers travelling in First and Business Class as well as Qantas Platinum One, Platinum and Gold frequent flyers. It is also open to eligible oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members, Emirates Skywards Platinum and Gold Customers and Qantas Club members.
