Qatar confirms Cardiff flights

Qatar Airways has confirmed its new services from Cardiff from Doha will commence on May 1, 2018, with the airline becoming the first Gulf carrier to operate flights from Wales.

The new route, announced earlier this year, will provide a direct daily service between the Welsh capital and Qatar's Doha hub. Flights will be operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliners with 22 seats in business class and 232 in economy.

Cardiff is one of 26 new destinations due to join Qatar's network in the remainder of the year and into 2018, with other additions including, Canberra, San Francisco and Chiang Mai, Thailand.

“We are delighted to announce the launch of our new route to the Welsh capital,” says Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker.

“Many travellers currently fly to and from London using ground transport between London and Cardiff, and the launch of direct service will allow passengers to fly directly from Wales and the Southwest to Doha and beyond for the first time.”

Flights from Cardiff will depart at 15:55 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and at 08:10 on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
