IHG identifies key travel management trends

A snap poll held at the IHG Expo 2018 found over half (52%) of travel managers believe personalisation, such as the ability to select in-room amenities, room type or floor, will have the biggest impact on corporate travellers.

The annual event, held for travel buyers, bookers and managers, also revealed duty of care, cost management and policy compliance are not the only priorities when putting together a travel programme.

A third (30%) of respondents identified traveller satisfaction as their top priority when creating a programme, followed by a desire to work with trusted brands (28%) and the safety/security of employees (19%).

Three quarters of travel managers find catering to millennials complex compared to that of other generations. This is in part due to millennials having different expectations from hospitality, seeking more flexibility, being more demanding of technology and increasingly seeking a ‘wow’ factor to share on social media.
